Some comments from our fabulous guests:

Amber: My wife and I were in over the weekend, and everything was great–but that Oyster Rockefeller Benedict Special was one of the best meals I have ever had. Thank you again, you do a great job, and I’m telling everyone about you!” ~ George Roberts, President/CEO East Cooper Meals on Wheels (Thank you Mr. Roberts! That’s one of our newest favorites)

“USA Today’s 10Best says, ‘Breakfast, Take Out, Breakfast/Brunch: Enjoy a true Lowcountry breakfast at this cozy restaurant, formerly the Bookstore Cafe. You can order three-egg omelets prepared several ways, or classic shrimp and grits with eggs. Soups and salads, accompanied by homemade beer bread are served at lunch.'” ~ USA Today’s 10Best List

This is my husband’s favorite place for breakfast. He comes here several times a week for the Lattes and Oatmeal!…I recommend this little eatery for locals and visitors to the area. Larger parties may have a small wait, but it’s worth it!” ~ Travelphile007, TripAdvisor Review

Tucked into a Johnnie Dodds strip mall off busy Highway 17 North, Charleston’s Cafe belies its non-plus location and ambiance with a deliciously imaginative menu. This is not your typical two-eggs-scrambled place. The cafe takes a unique and fun approach to breakfast “novelties” with Huevos Rellenos or Charleston’s Breakfast…, and their 9-island tour via various potato casseroles… The Cafe’s sweet potato biscuits are revered, and even their iced tea is spiced. There’s lighter fare, too, but really, why bother?”~ Stephanie Hunt, “Sunny Side Up: Charleston’s Star Breakfast”, Charleston Living

“A homey cafe serving big comfort dishes, this is a locals’ favorite. Their most popular dishes: pumpkin pancakes in the fall or the crab cake with poached eggs. Don’t forget their homemade chips too!” ~ Rise and Shine, The Local Palate

The establishment is a bit dated and in a strip mall, but don’t let that fool you. The food is excellent. We had a great meal. I had the Amber’s Choice- crab cake and shrimp eggs Benedict. It was the best I’ve ever had.”~ GretaPiggy, TripAdvisor Review

“The staff was extremely friendly and the food was delicious. I had a waffle that had fruit and nuts on it and it was the best waffle I have ever eaten. It was so good that we went back the next day so my sister could get one.” ~ Debbie A, Trip Advisor Review (We love the sundae waffle too!)

The Dewees Island Potato Casserole breakfast at the Charleston’s Cafe in Mt. P. It’s by far the best breakfast in town.” ~ Charlie Freeman, owner of Dog Daze of Charleston, Lowcountry Limelight (Aug. 2014)

“My favorite breakfast place in town… I always take my out of town guests every time they visit Charleston. The owner Amber and her staff are so sweet and the food is amazing. Must try their sweet potato biscuit and seasonal pumpkin pancakes.” ~ Zee Patal, local business owner and fan

It’s the best kept secret in Mount Pleasant.”Anonymous  reviewer (Much appreciated!)

“Greg and I went to Charleston’s Cafe for brunch, a change from our usual brunch spots… The cafe is kind enough to provide extra chairs and free coffee for all of the people waiting outside. They definitely win even more points for that one, not like they need them. But seriously, these [pumpkin] pancakes were to die for… And by the way, Greg had the Biscuits and Gravy with a side of bacon… Let’s just say after being skeptical, he walked away a very happy man.” ~ Brittany, Counting My Cupcakes blog

A longtime local institution for Sunday brunch, Charleston’s Cafe remains a Mt. Pleasant favorite for big breakfasts and lunches. The breakfast potato casseroles, named for local islands, are loaded with good stuff like turkey, bacon, and a spicy tomato cream sauce (the Dewees) and shrimp and kielbasa (the Edisto) and layers and layers of cheese. The Southern Benedict puts a delightful twist on traditional breakfast fare… it’s an in-demand spot for a big hearty brunch. They’re lining up for waffles, pancakes, and french toast piled high with fruit and dusted with powdered sugar, or to build their own omelets from a choice of two dozen ingredients. At lunch, the fare shifts t0 salads and sandwiches with interesting twists, like a blackened salmon BLT and turkey panini with a zippy horseradish cranberry sauce. The selection of salads and sandwiches help cement Charleston’s Café stature as an enduring favorite” ~ Robert Moss, Dish (Winter 2011 & 2013)

Really glad we stumbled across this all-day breakfast gem!! My husband had the maple granola pancakes and I had the Mexican omelet, both of which were delicious. We are already talking about coming back for lunch tomorrow!” ~ Happy Yelp Reviewer (See you next time!)

“…But no matter what your need, a yummy breakfast with added touches to the cooking process or a full-scale wedding with all the accouterment, the family affair at Charleston’s Cafe and Cafe Catering has the benefit of 20 years restaurant and catering experience, the desire to show you the best possible attention to detail and some of the most desirable professional connections to treat you to exactly what your palate and heart desires.” ~ Charleston Dining, charlestondining.com

If you want people to talk about how good your food is after the wedding, choose Cafe Catering. Their fried green tomato and pimento cheese sandwiches, crab cakes, and demi-tasse she crab soups convinced me that they were the caterer to choose. Many of our guests told us that this food was the best wedding food they had ever had. It looked like a 5 star restaurant had catered our event. The food was Southern, but modern. It was all perfectly cooked. I want to have another event just so they can cater it.”~ Lena Wright, Happy Newlywed, Review on WeddingWire.com

“This was our third visit to Charleston’s Cafe. We will continue to eat here on every visit! Choices, choices, and more choices. Unique breakfast dishes as well as the basics. Delish! Never had anything less than excellent… the deep fried cinnamon roll is a great ‘appetizer’. Yum! Just sit down and prepare your taste buds” ~ Michelle S, Trip Advisor Review (yay, thank you!)

“…While I’m sure tourists are not uncommon, this seems very much like a local haunt. It has that neighborhood feel that’s hard to fake, earned by years of serving regulars and truly being part of the local culture. The menu is nicely varied and filled with interesting dishes…” ~ Ozzyinatl, TripAdvisor Review

The food portions were ample, the space we had in the back was perfect! We probably were driving the rest of the diners crazy, but we all had a great time. I wish this restaurant was in my home town!” ~ Bryan H., TripAdvisor Review

“Brunch is one of my favorite meals and when I’m offered really inventive choices and they turn out ridiculously delicious, I get really excited! And Charleston’s Cafe blew me away with what they offer and the service was spectacular, too. Sweet potato biscuits & pimento cheese in my grits? Yes, please!!!… This breakfast earned every one of it’s 5 stars” ~ Happy Yelp Reviewer (We agree!)

“Love that I found this Café on trip advisor during my last visit. I took my children this time and posted our pics. Their specials are always top notch. Elvis French toast with peanut butter and bananas was a hit! I have really enjoyed every meal I have had here.” ~ GThreeGirls, TripAdvisor Review (Elvis in the house, thanks!)

We were out after church today, and we stopped at Charleston’s Cafe for brunch. I ordered the New England omelet. It’s the best omelet I have eaten!” ~ Denise Mast Broadwater, Facebook Review (The New England Omelet is one of our favorites too!)

“A memorable breakfast is an… elusive thing and when found, is something to be coveted and revered. I found that memorable breakfast at Charleston’s Cafe. Wow. This place is a true gem and well worth trying.” ~ Another Happy Reviewer (thank you)
